Platte Falls Conservation Area is in Platte County off of I-29, near Platte City. Visitors can access the south side of the area via Route HH (Platte City exit). To reach the north side of the area, take Highway 371 exit off I-29 and travel northeast about 5 miles.

The Conservation Department purchased Platte Falls Wildlife Management Area in 1980 with funds from the 1/8 of 1% Design for Conservation sales tax. The 2,366-acre area includes 890 acres of bottomland and upland timber, 700 acres of agricultural lands, and 350 acres of upland hay and pasture. The remainder is composed of old fields and regenerating bottomland forest.

Hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, and birdwatching are popular here, and a 9.1-mile unchannelized stretch of the Platte River flowing through the area allows many river-oriented activities and recreations.

The area has an archery sight-in range, as well as an area designated for clay bird target shooting.
