Select a taxonomic category to search. Only one category at a time can be selected. If no category is selected, then all species will be included in the search. Selecting a taxonomic group and then clicking Submit will return a list of all the species in that group (amphibians, mammals, etc.)
To narrow your search, choose an option from one or more of the pull-down lists:
More than one option can be selected from each list by holding the Ctrl Key down as you click on the items. The more options that are selected, the narrower the search will be.
To find information about an individual species: Select the appropriate species group and click 'submit', then click on the name of the species you want to see. To select by species name, enter the genus and/or species name in the "scientific name" box, or enter all or part of the common name in the 'common name' box. If complete common names are used, they must be entered in the following format: mouse, white-footed instead of white-footed mouse. It is also possible to enter just a portion of the common name. For example, searching for "mouse" will return a list of common names containing "mouse", from which you can select a particular species.
