What Is Missouri Outdoors?

Missouri Outdoors brings the spirit and exuberance of our outdoor heritage to life.

Kipp Woods is your host for 30 minutes of discovery into the little known, and well known outdoor treasures of Missouri.

From lush Ozark mountains, to crystal clear streams, to lonely flowering prairies, and mysterious cyprus swamps, few other states offer the outdoor diversity of Missouri. Experience adventures in hunting and hiking, fishing and wildlife and the people who enjoy it. Missouri is a uniquely rich state and Missouri Outdoors brings it to you.

It's an adventure into nature for the entire family.

MISSOURI OUTDOORS... It's Television the way NATURE intended!

History

"Missouri Outdoors" first hit the "air" in 1986 produced locally for the Jefferson City/Columbia market. Since 1989, the show has been distributed statewide.

The show was originally hosted from a studio setting. Today, each program is shot on-location throughout the state. It's been that way since 1991.

The magazine style show features 3 to 4 individual stories focusing on conservation and outdoor related topics, activities and people of Missouri.

The shows also include short segments featuring wildlife, nature notes, outdoor cooking, how-to tips, agent tales, website questions and wildlife sounds.

Also included in the series is "Just Kiddin' Around," a show produced especially for kids. It's hosted by Sarah Tannehill.

Each 30-minute program is closed-captioned for the hearing impaired and is produced by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Awards

"Missouri Outdoors", "Just Kiddin' Around" and the entire crew associated with the shows have been awarded over 30 Regional Emmys since 1994 when "Missouri Outdoors" received its first "show" nomination. During this time it has received over 60 nominations.

The Regional Emmy competition covers television professionals and stations in 7 Midwestern states including all of Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa and parts of Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky and Louisiana.

The shows have also received national awards including Tellys, Cindys, ITVAs and ACIs.
