Come learn how to shoot archery! Archery is a safe and fun sport for everyone. All levels of abilities welcome but these events are geared for novices, 8-year-old to adults. Class Size is limited to provide for one-on-one instruction.
All equipment will be supplied. Please show up in sturdy, closed toe shoes. We will meet at the Static Range on J. Thad Ray. Park at the parking lot and follow the mowed trail around to the left.
Archery classes are offered Thursday evenings May 5th, 12th, and 19th. From 6 pm to 8 pm. Sign up for one or all.

Archery and bow hunting continue to grow in popularity! During this beginner’s archery class, we will teach and practice the basics and help you perfect your stance to shoot more consistently and accurately. All equipment is provided.
An atlatl is a handheld lever used to provide leverage and power while throwing a light spear known as a dart. Atlatls predate the bow and arrow.
In Missouri, atlatls can be used as a legal method of taking wildlife game. This program will provide basic instruction about different styles of atlatls, darts, and throwing technique for successful sport target shooting.

Come to Jay Henges Shooting Range and put your basic archery skills to the test! We will learn about archery and archery range safety, and how to use a compound bow. Following NASP requirements, all participants must be ages 9 and up. Anyone under 9 will not be able to participate.

Bug spray, sunscreen and a hat are recommended. You don’t have to be a hunter to become a skilled archer. No experience is necessary and archery equipment will be provided. We will teach and practice the basics, helping you perfect your stance to shoot more consistently and accurately.
Discover Nature Girls’ Camp is a FREE, 1-day camp held by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for girls ages 11-15. The camp will be held on July 12th. One goal of this camp is to encourage participants to leave with the confidence to explore Missouri’s diverse outdoors on their own. Discover Nature Girls’ Camp will provide them with a supportive learning environment where they can actively participate in “hands-on” outdoor skills led by Conservation Agents and MDC staff. Some of these skills include: archery, shooting sports, fishing, atlatl, and canoeing. At the completion of camp, the girls will become Hunter Education certified so that they may continue using their newly learned skills. Registration is open to the first 60 girls who have not attended before. You will need to create a username and password for your child to register.

Youth Conservation and Hunter Education Camp is a FREE, 2-day camp held by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for ages 11-15. The camp will be held on July 26th and 27th. One goal of this camp is to encourage participants to leave with the confidence to explore Missouri’s diverse outdoors on their own. Youth Conservation and Hunter Education Camp will provide campers with a supportive learning environment where they can actively participate in “hands-on” outdoor skills led by MDC staff. Some of these skills include archery, shooting sports, fishing, atlatl, and canoeing. At the completion of camp, the kids will become Hunter Education certified so that they may continue using their newly learned skills. Registration is open to the first 60 applicants who have not attended before. You will need to create a username and password for your child to register.
