MDC offers free basic archery and crossbow classes May 7 near Kansas City
Kansas City, Mo. – Two kinds of archery skills will be taught in free classes offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation on Saturday, May 7, at the Lake City Shooting Range near Buckner. A class for longbows and compound bows will be taught from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Crossbow skills will be taught from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m.
Both classes will be taught at the Lake City target archery range near the headquarters building. All equipment will be provided by MDC or participants can bring their own. MDC staff and volunteers will provide instruction in shooting fundamentals, archery safety, equipment maintenance and safe storage of gear.
Archery with bows or crossbows is a fun when target shooting and also a rewarding way of hunting game such as white-tailed deer and wild turkeys. These classes will help participants get comfortable shooting archery gear and knowing what skills are needed to be on target.
The regular archery program is open to adults and youths ages 11 and older. Crossbow training is open to adults and youths ages 10 and older. COVID-19 precautions will be followed.
