Welcome to Little Prairie Nature Trail Run / Hike! The 3.6 mile unpaved nature trail that surrounds Towell Lake travels through different management regions of this 342 acre conservation area. Signage is provided along the nature trail that describes management practices designed to enhance diversity and health of the Missouri native plants and animals living here. Participants can register in advance or on-site between 8-9 am, with MDC management staff presentation at 8:30 & run / hike starting at 9am. The first 100 finishers will receive a MDC water bottle.

Discover Nature - Fishing Lessons 1 & 2

Lesson 1: Learn the parts and function of a spin cast fishing rod and reel. How to cast safely and and successfully. How to fasten basic tackle to a fishing line. Learn techniques to catch fish and handle it properly.

Lesson 2: How to Tie a Knot and Bait a Hook combines instruction with hands-on fishing to teach young anglers and families intermediate fishing techniques and skills. Participants will learn to tie an improved clinch knot and how to properly secure bait on hooks.

Participants will be able to take what they learned and go fishing.
